Somewhere by Nico, Glasgow, UK

Lighting design by Mistry Lighting

Mistry Lighting specified Radiant’s D 100 WE System IP20 projectors to provide dynamic, DMX-controlled, textured lighting effects behind the bar of Somewhere by Nico, an immersive, experience-led cocktail bar in Glasgow.

The theatrical nature of the bar, with it’s curved features and oversized organza flowers, is enhanced by the subtle, ever moving lit effects created by the D 100 WE projectors, specified with a mix of warm and cool CCT LEDs. The choice of rippled glass optics creates light patterns that echo the forms of the floral decorations, and the folding, cloud-like pendant lighting fixtures used elsewhere in the bar.

Each type of textured glass optic available produces a different kind of light pattern, each with its unique interplay between light and shadow.

The complex DMX-controlled dimming sequence can be adjusted on-site at any stage, allowing the lit effect to be modified to shape new atmospheres with ease. The rhythmic dynamic lighting effects help to create a dream-like interior setting.

The adjustable angle brackets allow the projectors to rotate in two axes, so the lit effect can be directed with precision. The compact size of the projectors, with remote AC to DC DMX drivers, ensure that the fixtures remain discreet whilst providing a powerful lit effect of up to 800 lumens per projector.

The system does not rely on any moving parts and the LEDs are not run at full power for most of the dimming sequence, giving a long working life of up to 100,000 hours. Contact Radiant for case study.
