Good morning
We thought you might like to see some photos of our installation for the Darc Night event in London’s East End.
Many thanks especially to our collaborators at GNI projects, Ingo Kalecinski and Graham Rollins, who designed the installation. Graham and Ingo’s ‘Murmur’ design proved to be a great success. Below you can see some photos of the Murmur installation, and of the custom LED systems Radiant produced for this installation. 3D LED Flex 40 System. Modular, 3D flexible LED lighting system. Each module contains 4 x Red, Luxeon Z LEDs, with an ultra narrow beam Gaggione lens and anti-glare snoot. Each module is individually addressable via DMX. A custom DMX programme was created to achieve the light effect for this installation. With its ball-joint system between modules, the strips can bend and twist into complex 3D curves, and each module can then be carefully aimed. |

| Two identical sets of the red LED strips were positioned on the floor and ceiling of the stand. The programme was configured so that the corresponding modules of the strip attached to the floor and
the strip attached to the ceiling would light up together. This allowed the suspended Aluminium rods to be lit simultaneously from the top and bottom, with the ultra narrow beam Gaggione lenses providing a very focused beam. The DMX programme was designed to mimic an ECG monitor (a heart rate monitor), with the red light passing down the Aluminium rod in a smooth sequence from the left to the right of the cube. The Aluminium rods were carefully bent to recreate the London skyline from West to East. The effect was that the skyline of London became a beating heart.
The RGBW strips were also DMX controlled, with 4 channels, one for each of the colours. They provided a wash of coloured light onto the other hanging elements. |
